Data Architect
TISTA Science and Technology Corporation is seeking an enthusiastic Data Architect to join our growing team. The Data Architect is responsible for analyzing database structural necessities by evaluating client operations, systems, and programming. The Data Architect will be a part of a small, fast-paced IT technical team to evaluate systems, data management and procedures of a federal agency. This person must be resourceful, detail-oriented, and 100% client-focused, with a continuing passion for your profession.
Responsibilities
- The Data Architect will be responsible for developing, refining, and championing the data strategy, data architecture, data models, and solutions to support a large mission-critical enterprise solution
- Play a key role in proof of concepts, domain-driven design, data governance, ensuring that established principles, standards, and patterns are applied appropriately and as intended
- In coordination with IT leadership, develop data integration strategies and roadmaps for the program
- Work with subject matter experts (inside and outside of IT) and developers to understand and document requirements, objectives, and constraints with respect to data integration and reuse opportunities
- Be a thought leader and champion industry best practice in designing the data architecture and implementation approach
- Develop, refine, document, and publish models and proposed solutions to meet the project needs with respect to enterprise data, data integration, master data management and reporting
- Develop and recommend data management policies, standards, practices and security measures to ensure effective and consistent data management operations
- Interact extensively and regularly with other architects, developers, and project teams to advance the project data architecture
- Review and analyze existing systems and make recommendations for improvements
- Translate business requirements into documented data, application, interface specifications and infrastructure requirements
- Perform business analysis and requirements analysis activities as needed to understand and document requirements and to develop proposed solutions
- Participate in complex software development projects in all phases (requirements, design, development, testing, and deployment), often in a lead role directing and mentoring others
- Collaborate with Project Managers to develop project management artifacts and to offer technical advice and solutions
- Assist database administrators, data stewards, quality assurance team and other staff to ensure data integrity, consistency, security and privacy
- Optimize organizational data strategy
- Maintain awareness of all sources of operational data
Qualifications
- Advanced knowledge of data management and database development technologies and processes
- Advanced knowledge of solution patterns within the data domain, including working with structured and unstructured data and transactional and analytical solutions
- Advanced knowledge of data integration patterns and technologies
- Knowledge and experience with Agile development practices
- Demonstrated ability to develop useful, secure, reliable, and high-performing solutions for complex challenges
- Ability to translate complex technical terminology, concepts and issues in terms understandable to technical and non-technical management and staff
- Advanced knowledge of SQL required. Experience with transitioning databases from on premise to AWS is preferred
- Advanced database development skills and experience required. Familiarity with web-to-database connectivity required.
- Advanced skill in requirements gathering, requirements analysis, business process analysis, object-oriented analysis and data modeling required
- Experience with implementing data architectures within AWS using Amazon Aurora or PostgreSQL is a plus
- Experience with enterprise reporting and data science/machine learning is a plus
- Experience with case management is a plus
- Minimum of ten (10) years’ experience planning, designing, building and implement IT-related data architecture strategies
- Must interface regularly with executives, business owners, SMEs, other system maintenance contractors, and other technical staff to effectively communicate data strategies at various levels of understanding
It is desirable that the Information/Data Architect have the following qualifications: At least five (5) years of the required ten (10) years of experience must be in the direct supervision and management of major projects that involve providing professional support services and/or the integration, implementation, and transition of large complex system and subsystem architectures

- Bachelor's Degree B.S. in Computer Science or Information Management, or related field
Clearance:
- The ability to obtain a government moderate background security clearance
Pay Range:
- The pay for this position ranges from $87,075 to $161,250.
- The actual salary offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
- Also, certain positions are eligible for additional forms of compensation, such as bonuses.
