Position Summary of the Higher Education Data Engineer:

The Higher Education Data Engineer will be able to provide an analysis of Bryan University’s higher education-based data. The Higher Education Data Engineer successfully analyzes metrics and interprets data for achieving improved results. Additionally, the Higher Education Data Engineer will lead Bryan University’s Data Warehouse initiatives. The Higher Education Data Engineer is responsible for prioritizing and managing multiple projects simultaneously and following through on issues in a timely manner.  

Responsibilities of the Higher Education Data Engineer:

• Design and develop scalable solutions using AI tools and machine-learning models. 
• Performs research and testing to develop machine learning algorithms and predictive models. 
• Utilizes big data computation and storage tools to create prototypes and datasets. Conducts model training and evaluation. 
• Develop and manage internal reporting to stakeholders and senior management. 
• Support all Compliance and Accreditor reporting. 
• Support all departments for ad hoc reporting needs. 
• Develop and manage reporting in the Microsoft Power BI interface. 
• May oversee a select group of employees who run reports to ensure the timely and accurate dissemination of such reports. 
• Train end-users on how to read and interpret reports and dashboards 
• Document key policies and procedures 
• Assist in systems implementation projects
• Other projects as assigned by Vice President of IT

Requirements of the Higher Education Data Engineer:

• Experience with Higher Education Data sets is required
• Proficient with multiple AI tools such as Python, Java, or R and machine learning frameworks like Spark, TensorFlow, or scikit-learn
• Degree in computer science, mathematics, engineering, or equivalent experience
• 4+ years as Senior Data Engineer or equivalent 
• Advanced proficiency in Excel Skills (Power Pivot, Power Query, advanced formulas) 
• Strong presentation and organizational skills 
• Strong knowledge of using databases (i.e. CRMs, Financial databases, etc.) 
• Demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously in a collaborative environment
• Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
